What's the difference between the DUR and DSR forms?

The Data Use Request (DUR) Process is used for all those without Griffin access, including vendors, who would like to store or load Griffin data into another database or system. The Data Sharing Request (DSR) is used to share privileged alumni and donor Griffin data without some­ one without Griffin access. Data Use Request Form (DUR)

Definition:

The Data Use Request (DUR) process is used for all those without Griffin access, including vendors, who would like to store any Griffin information into another database or system.

Examples:

  • You’ve procured a new technology system and would like to store Griffin data in the new system
  • The AIS system needs a data feed of account numbers from the Financial Accounting System (FAS).

What is the process?

Visit the Data Stewardship Council website at dsc.uchicago.edu.

  1. Fill out the Data Usage Request (DUR) form.
  2. Submit your completed request form to DASH at dashARD@uchicago.edu. Please copy datausagerequest@lists.uchicago.edu on your request.
  3. After the review process, you will be contacted about an ap­proval or non-approval.

What Can I Share after the  DUR  is approved?

Only Approved Information, as specified on DUR

  • You can share public or internal data with other University staff or partners.
  • The approved DUR form will specify what data may be shared with non-ARD staff.
  • Approved DUR forms may allow staff to share the same infor­mation with the same requestor on a recurring, ongoing basis.

Data Sharing Request Form (DSR)

Definition:

The Data Sharing Request (DSR) is used to share privileged alumni and donor Griffin data with someone without Griffin access. (Please refer to the ARD Data Classification Matrix in Developedia.)

Examples:

  • A non-ARD staff member would like giving data like exact gift amount from the Griffin database.

What is the process?
